2 children critically hurt in fatal crash in Federal Way

The crash shut down both directions of Pacific Highway S. in Federal Way. Police initially believe the children's father was driving recklessly.

One person was killed and four others -- including two children -- were injured in a crash in Federal Way Friday. The crash shut down a four-block stretch of Pacific Highway S. in Federal Way for several hours Friday.

The crash happened after 2 p.m., causing police to shot down Pacific Highway between S. 300th Street and S. 304th Street.

Federal Way Police say the driver of a white sedan was driving recklessly southbound on Pacific Highway. He lost control entering the northbound lanes where the car was t-boned by a truck.

The driver was killed. Police say his two children -- an infant and toddler -- are in critical condition and his wife sustained non-life threatening injuries. South King Fire and Rescue reported earlier the that children's injuries were non-life threatening.

The driver of the truck did not have serious injuries.
