A man hit 9-10 cars on northbound Interstate 5, south of Interstate 90 in Seattle Wednesday night, causing damage and a lengthy back-up.
About 5:45 p.m., witnesses said the driver of a white Crown Victoria was driving erratically, zooming in and out of traffic. The 22-year-old driver hit Ryan and Heather Teter from behind in their rental car, and then continued through rush hour traffic, hitting about 10 other cars.
"He left a wake of destruction," said Heather Teter, who had just arrived at Sea-Tac Airport from Florida with her husband.
Driving northbound, Washington State Patrol said the man then turned the wrong way down an on-ramp from the West Seattle Bridge and South Columbian Way. He abandoned the car on the on-ramp and fled on foot.
Seattle Police apprehended the suspect, and he is in custody for driving under the influence of drugs. The man appeared to be high on methamphetamine, according to WSP.
He was arrested for a DUI two nights ago by WSP in Oak Harbor.
The victims have minor injuries.
