The driver in a deadly rollover hit-and-run crash in Lakewood that left three people dead has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The collision happened around 2 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 5 near Bridgeport Way.

The impact of the collision sent the Honda's engine into the northbound lanes where another car struck it, causing another accident. No one was hurt in that collision, but a police officer was treated and released after a semi hit his patrol car at the scene of the first crash.

The 23-year-old driver who caused the accident was tracked down three miles away. Authorities say the woman was trying to remove the car's bumper.

The driver had no driver’s license and was suspected of being under the influence. A stolen firearm was also found in the vehicle, Trooper Bova said.

The driver was arrested for DUI, hit-and-run, possession of a stolen firearm, and three counts of vehicular homicide.

Officials say a 30-year-old man, a 51-year-old man, and a 44-year-old woman were killed in the crash.
