SEATTLE - Sea-Tac Airport, which has been the nation's fastest growing, is set to break into the top 10 busiest airports in the nation, says the Port of Seattle.
Traffic in the third quarter grew another 9.1 percent over the same period in 2015, nearly double projections that growth would settle back down to a dull roar of just 5 percent.
Sea-Tac continues to add flights, recently beginning additional service to China aboard Xiamen Airlines, and announced additional airlines are coming, including Virgin Atlantic. Overall, 2016 saw the addition of eight new airlines including cargo carriers.
All of this growth has the airport scrambling to expand new terminals, including eight additional gates in a refurbished North Satellite, and construction of a new International Arrival's Facility attached to the A concourse, complete with a sky bridge that connects it to the South Satellite.
