BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Mamie Kirkland was born when Teddy Roosevelt was president and she celebrated her 108th birthday in September.
Tuesday, she voted at Canisius College -- and received a round of applause after she turned in her vote.
Kirkland says she remembers voting for president for the first time during the Great Depression.
She encouraged everyone to get out and vote Tuesday, saying if she could at 108, everybody who is registered to vote should.
"It's a blessing. It is a blessing to be able to get out the vote," she said. "People have died for this. Now you can vote. Get out and vote. If I can vote at 108, these people can vote."
