Tran's family "proud" to see him compete

"I'm very proud of him. It's a blessing," said Maria Corazan Crain, Tran's mom, shortly before watching him compete.

Federal Way short-track skater Aaron Tran still has one more chance to win a medal in PyeongChang, and his family hopes to see it.

Mom, dad and little sister made the trip to South Korea for the games.

"Go Aaron!" said his little sister Jasmine.

"Having him here skating with the best, I mean, it just goes to show that he is one of the best. Seeing him out there, it just makes me tear up. I'm very proud of him. It's a blessing," said Maria Corazan Crain, his mom.

Tran competed in the 500 meter and the race didn't go his way. He bumped into another skater and was disqualified.

"For me, I like the unpredictability of short track...I got unlucky this time but it's ok," said Tran.

The loss just fuels Aaron's fire.

"I'm so determined for the next games. So many things I want to work on, so man things to do."

Tran still has one event to go, the Men's 5,000 meter relay "B" final. That means his chances of winning a medal are slim. Two teams in the "A" final would have to be disqualified and the U.S. would have to win the "B" final to get the bronze.
