On Saturday morning, safety Earl Thomas attempted to clear the air with Seahawks fans, writing in a long tweet that he wants to remain in Seattle.

“I want to be a Seahawk,” Thomas wrote. “I love being in Seattle.”

Thomas had told Ireland’s radio show “Off the Ball” hosts this week he planned to be “rich and happy regardless . . . whether I’m in Seattle or anywhere else.”

The All-Pro has been the subject of numerous trade rumors this offseason, with the Cowboys showing strong interest in the Texas native. Thomas was not shy about his desire to play in Dallas either, allegedly telling Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett to “come get me”after the two teams played last year.

But Thomas expressed his love for the city of Seattle in his note.

“The winning culture we have established is something I want to be a part of it for life!!” Thomas explained. “We have the best fan base in the 12’s who spend there hard earned money to pack out our stadium every time we hit the grass.”

Thomas also spoke highly of the community, his wife’s love of the city, as well as his strong bond with owner Paul Allen, coach Pete Carroll and the staff he has worked with in Seattle.

Ultimately, it is not up to Thomas if he stays in Seattle for next season. The team may still attempt to trade him, with reports indicating they are looking for a first-round pick and a third-round pick in exchange for the three-time All-Pro free safety.

With Richard Sherman gone, Kam Chancellor still recovering from a potentially career-ending neck injury and Byron Maxwell a free agent, Seattle’s famous “Legion of Boom” is already gone. Thomas getting traded would be the nail in the coffin in one of the greatest defensive secondaries in NFL history.

But if that happens, Thomas wants you all to know something:

“Never for a moment think I want to leave this beautiful city.”
