After an impressive weekend of quarterfinal play, we look ahead to the semifinal games coming up this Saturday. Here are the overviews for 1B and 2B Football state semi final match ups.

1B —

Quarter finals results:

Neah Bay 66, Tacoma Baptist 26.

Naselle 16, Lummi Nation 56.

Colton 58, Sunnyside Christian 60.

Almira Coulee Hartline 28, Odessa-Harrington 60.

Semi final preview:

Neah Bay at Lummi Nation

Northwest 1B League rivals Neah Bay and Lummi Nation will square off this Saturday to determine who will go on to the 1B state championship. This is the eighth straight year that the Blackhawks and and Red Devils have faced each other in the elite eight or later. Lummi Nation comes into the semi final undefeated on the season, while Neah Bay has only one loss — courtesy of Lummi Nation. In their previous league matchup, Lummi defeated Neah Bay 36-30.

This is a rematch of last years semi final game, where Lummi Nation upset Neah Bay 26-20 to head to the state title game for the first time since 2010. Lummi Nation was then defeated by Almira Coulee-Hartline for the state championship.

With a strong post season presence in the past by both teams and the continued rivalry, this will be a game to watch. Both teams outscored their opponents by 40 points in their quarterfinal matchups, so you can expect impressive performances from both teams this Saturday.

Neah Bay and Lummi Nation will play at Everett Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Nov 26th at 4:00 p.m.

Sunnyside Christian at Odessa-Harrington

Sunnyside Christian narrowly defeated Colton in a high scoring game, 60-58, to earn their place in the semi final matchup this Saturday. Odessa-Harrington on the otherhand dominated the 2015 state champions, Almira Coulee Hartline, in a 60-28 win.

Both teams enter the semi final undefeated on the year. Odessa-Harrington has had a dominating season, outscoring opponents 774-179. No team scored more than 20 points in a game against the Titan’s defense until Almira Coulee Hartline scored 28 in last weeks semi final.

Sunnyside Christian had another impressive year, outscoring opponents 604-246 to this point. Facing some adversity from injury, the team has been resilient and continued to display why the Knights are one of the remaining four teams in the state tournament.

Sunnyside Christian at Odessa-Harrington will play at Lions Field (Moses Lake), Saturday Nov 26th, 1:00 p.m.

2B —

Quarter finals results:

Toledo 14, La Conner 10

Napavine 41, Pe Ell/Willapa Valley 7.

Northwest Christian (Colbert) 14, Asotin 20.

Liberty (Spangle) 48, Dayton-Waitsburg 19.

Semi final preview:

Toledo at Napavine

Toledo and Napavine, 2B central league rivals, will square off for the semi final match this weekend. Both schools are undefeated to this point, and did not play each other during the regular season.

Toledo has beat both of it’s opponents in post season by a score of 14-10. Their offense has scored 459 points thus far, for an average of 38 per game. Expect this Indian’s offense to continue to be aggressive as they take on Napavine.

Napavine has dominated postseason opponents with scores of 41-6 and 41-7. Throughout the season, only 2 of the Tiger’s opponents have scored more than 10 points in a game. Expect this impressive defense to continue to shine in this semi final matchup, out to avenge their second place finish from last year.

Toledo and Napavine will play at Centralia HS on Saturday Nov 26th, 4:00 p.m.

Asotin at Liberty (Spangle)

The semi final matchup between Asotin and Liberty (Spangle) will be a rematch of their conference game back in September, which took 3 overtimes to finish. Liberty pulled out the win 22-20, and this playoff matchup is expected to be just as close.

Asotin’s only loss of the year was to Liberty, but they have had a dominating presence in the rest of their games. No other opponent has scored more than 20 points against the Panthers defense, and Liberty was only able to get 22. The Panthers defensive efforts will be crucial in this Saturday’s rematch.

Liberty defeated Asotin in the regular season matchup, but suffered their sole loss to Northwest Christian, 36-26 in early October. The Lancers consistently put high numbers on the board, expect this offense to continue its aggressive approach this weekend.

Asotin and Liberty (Spangle) will play at Gonzaga Prep (Spokane) on Saturday Nov 26th, 4:00 p.m.
