Now that the Oak View Group’s KeyArena renovation has won Seattle City Council approval, KING 5 reporter Chris Daniels detailed options for Chris Hansen and the SODO arena proposal moving forward.
On KING 5’s The Sound Podcast, Daniels said Hansen’s "last best hope" is that “he can attract an NBA franchise or an owner that wants to be here and play in his building to maximize their revenues. That’ll be a discussion for another time.”
Hansen’s memorandum of understanding, or MOU, expired with the city December 3. The city council voted to approve OVG’s renovation plan December 4.
But Daniels said Hansen hasn’t given up.
“If he came to the city council and said, I have an NBA team in hand or an NBA team that wants to play in my building, it’s going to be tough for them to turn down,” said Daniels, who added at the same time, the city’s deal with OVG could complicate that process.
