SEATTLE -- Sporting events in Seattle are going to make traffic extra tough for the Friday evening commute.

The Washington Huskies will host Stanford at 6 p.m. It's a matchup of teams ranked in the top 10. Thousands of fans will be converging on the University District just as others are heading home from work.

One hour after kickoff, the Seattle Mariners will host the Oakland A's at Safeco Field. The Mariners are still in the Wild Card chase with three games to play.

Montlake Boulevard right in front of Husky Stadium will close between NE 45th Street and NE Pacific Drive at 7:15 p.m. and won't reopen until about an hour after the game is over.

The City of Seattle has partnered with Uber for 50 percent off trips to and from the UW game. Customers need to use the code HOMESAFEUW. That discount will be available from 3:30 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.

If you're traveling from south Husky Stadium, taking light rail may be your best bet.
