SEATTLE – Sound Transit says last Friday’s huge sports day in Seattle led to a single-day record 101,000 boardings for Link Light Rail.

The Huskies played a nationally televised, top 10 matchup against the Stanford Cardinal and the Mariners played the Oakland A’s in the hopes of reaching the postseason.

The previous record was 85,000 on August 25.

Sound Transit also announced nearly that nearly 70,000 people per day boarded light rail in August. That’s in increase of about 70 percent over August 2015. Boardings have gone up dramatically since the University of Washington and Capitol Hill stations opened last spring.
