A few things have changed since last season and we want to make sure you've got the scoop before taking your seat at Safeco Field this weekend.

Free Light rail rides

Game tickets don't just get you entrance into Safeco Field. For the first two months of their season schedule, attendees can ride the Link light rail free of charge.

Safeco Field got new turf

An Olympia company grew new sod installed in Safeco Field last fall. The family-owned company planted the first grass at Safeco when it opened in 1999.

No fan re-entry during games

Fans used to be able to scan out and re-enter later with the same ticket. But the Mariners said it will fall in line with most other Major League stadiums and not allow re-entry. The Mariners say this is for fan safety.

Look out for express security entrances

CLEAR, used at more than two dozen airports to speed passage through security, will open express entrances to members at Safeco. The company plans to experiment this year in Washington state with biometric identification of fingertips that prove age verification for alcohol purchase and hopes at some point to use fingertip identification for stadium entry.

Safeco Field will soon have a new name

Safeco Field, the home of the Seattle Mariners since the stadium opened in 1999, will have a new name after this season. The Mariners announced last June the naming rights partnership with Safeco Insurance will not extend past 2018.

This season's menu twists classic NW favorites

The Sriracha mac and cheese balls are sure to be a "hit." Din Tai Fung brings their acclaimed pork and vegetable buns to the masses. Check out Sound Seafood's yummy lobster rolls. And of course, no dining experience is complete without... Donuts.

Extended netting was installed to protect fans

The Mariners announced last fall they would be expanding the protective netting at Safeco Field beyond home plate to protect more fans down the baselines.
