VIDEO: FedEx driver accused of stealing firewood

A woman recorded a FedEx driver stealing wood from one of her neighbor's earlier this week.
A FedEx driver is accused of stealing wood from a home near Port Orchard.

What happens when the person responsible for delivering your packages, fills up their truck with your stuff instead? A FedEx driver is accused of doing just that near Port Orchard.

The driver's actions were caught on camera Tuesday afternoon. The video shows a FedEx truck parked next to wood that was pilled up in front of a home on Young Hill Lane SE.

Johanna Baxter lives across the street, and she says the driver started loading the wood into the FedEx truck.

"She went over and got an armful of wood and I heard it go clunk into the truck," said Baxter.

She grabbed her cell phone and began recording. She says the driver did the same thing a couple more times before driving away.

Baxter then posted the video on her Facebook page, and it quickly attracted lots of comments, shares, and thousands of views.

"If she truly needed the wood, I know anyone of us here would have been happy to help her," said Baxter. "There's no free sign down there, and if you go down there and see, there is definitely a house in plain view of it."

In a statement from FedEx Ground, Communications Advisor Jim Masilak writes:

"FedEx Ground contracts for and expects the highest levels of conduct from service providers and their employees. We are reviewing this incident and will take the appropriate steps to address this matter."

Baxter asks, "If you are going to take wood, what else is potentially going on there."

Baxter adds that when the homeowner learned about what happened, he said he did not want to press charges and police were not contacted.
