Shorewood students to wear plaid in honor of teen struck by semi-truck

The teenage boy was crossing a crosswalk on his bicycle when he was struck by a semi-truck.
A semi-truck struck a teenage boy while turning onto Aurora Avenue North on Wednesday morning.

Shoreline High School students will wear plaid on Thursday in honor of a teen who was struck by a semi-truck near the school.

Students posted on social media that they planned to wear plaid to show a sign of unity and togetherness.

The 14-year-old bicyclist was traveling westbound on the sidewalk of North 175th Street on Wednesday morning when the collision happened.

The semi-truck was turning north onto Aurora Avenue North in Shoreline when it hit the boy.

The teen, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is in critical condition.

He is expected to survive, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.
