For the last 25 years, families in Tacoma have celebrated "First Night" on New Year's Eve.
It's an alcohol-free, indoor and outdoor event with activities throughout the City of Destiny.
“If you've never been to First Night before, each year is themed on the Chinese Zodiac, and this year will be the year of the dog,” said Martha Enson, who coordinates the entertainment on First Night.
"It's all about play. It's all about dog elements, but please don't your dog to first night,” she said
Everything outdoors is free including a parade that starts at 6 p.m.
"There's going to be grooming tents where you can go and get your hair done or get temporary tattoos or henna tattoo,” she said.
To visit indoor activities, families will need buttons. They are $12 any time before Sunday and $15 at the door.
“The art museum has them, the glass museum, the children's museum. There are a lot of venues.”
