Academy-award winning actor and now author Tom Hanks is coming to Seattle on December 6 to promote his first book of fiction, "Uncommon Type: Some Stories."

The book, published last month, is a collection of 17 stories written by Hanks in the last couple years. (One appeared in The New Yorker). All share a common theme: an old-school typewriter, which Hanks has an affinity for. He reportedly has a collection of more than 100 typewriters.

Hanks will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 6 at the Susan Brotman Auditorium at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall in Seattle. Tickets start at $75, which includes a copy of the book. Students can purchase tickets for $10.
