Transportation officials are considering improvements to Park n' Ride facilities in the Puget Sound region.

A new study coordinated by USDOT aims at making the lots more efficient, and better connecting users to transit. The findings will be presented to the Washington Transportation Commissioners on Tuesday.

The study found that almost all Park n' Ride lots are at 100% capacity, and overall parking vehicle occupancy is very low, with only 6% of drivers involved in carpools.

Possible recommendations to help streamline the lots include issuing permits for users or charging a fee for single-occupant vehicles to use the spaces.
