One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Burien.

Burien police responded to reports of gunshots fired Tuesday night, shortly before midnight, in the 13600 block of 3rd Ave S.

Burien Police Sgt. Jason Houck says one person was being chased by a man with a knife when he ran to a nearby neighbors house for help.

After the person entered the home, the suspect attempted to stab the homeowner's door.

The homeowner came outside and fired a warning shot into the ground in an attempt to scare the suspect away. Neighbors heard the gunshot and called police.

Police asked the suspect several times to lay on the ground. After refusing to cooperate, police deployed a taser twice to subdue him. They say that didn't work and that's when an officer shot the suspect.

The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

King County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
