SEATTLE - Amazon announced Wednesday morning plans to hire more than 120,000 seasonal employees for the upcoming holiday season.

In Washington, Amazon will hire thousands of employees at facilities in Sumner, DuPont, Kent and Kennewick. Amazon will be accepting applications for positions at fulfillment centers, sortation centers and customer service sites.

Good news, last year more than 14,000 seasonal employees transitioned into regular, full-time positions after the holidays. This year Amazon expects to increase that number.

This announcement comes shortly after a number of other big name companies also announced plans to hire large numbers for the holiday season. These include Target, JC Penney, and Macy's.
