Kent is another step closer to enjoying the famous burgers and fries of Dick's Drive-In.

The local burger chain announced it will begin construction of its newest location on Tuesday.

Crews are scheduled to break ground at 11:30 a.m. Construction is supposed to be completed by the end of this year.

When the company let customers choose its next location, the list of finalists included West Seattle, Auburn, Renton, Burien, SeaTac, Tukwila, Kent, Normandy Park, Des Moines and Federal Way.

Dick's has been an institution since it first opened on NE 45th Street in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood in 1954. It has grown to six locations over the years - all with long lines day and night.

While other fast food joints have constantly changed their menus, Dick’s menu has remained basic: four styles of hamburgers; one size of fries; three classic flavors for shakes – chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry; soda; root beer floats; and ice cream.

Dick's Drive-In drew a lot of attention when they announced the public vote, counting more than 170,000 votes in total.
