Crystal Mountain ski area will not open Friday, because it did not get as much snow as it had anticipated.
The area said that early to middle next week "looks promising."
"We are really close and it looks like we'll get more snow early next week so stay tuned," Crystal Mountain wrote on their website.
Crystal Mountain had announced earlier this week that they were tentatively set to open Friday.
"Over the weekend we watched it snow steadily, and we went from six inches to 10 inches then to 20 inches in places at the higher elevations. Typically we say we need about two feet to get going," Crystal Mountian's Tiana Anderson said.
It won't set any records, but mid-November is pretty early for the resort to open. Thanksgiving openings are typical for Crystal.
Mission Ridge near Wenatchee is taking advantage of colder temperatures and machine-made snow to stick with a November 24 opening, possibly opening as early as November 18, said area spokesman Tony Hickock.
