Cruise season sets sail in Seattle Thursday

The Port of Seattle is about to get a little crowded. The first cruise ship of the season arrives at Pier 66 Thursday morning.

This cruise season is expected to be the biggest in years, according to the Port of Seattle. The Port is preparing for more than one million passengers this year.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Sun vessel arrives around 3 a.m. Thursday. A spokesperson for the Port says the NCL Sun will be serving the Vancouver market this season, and after picking up passengers in Seattle will be taking off later Thursday afternoon.

The largest cruise vessel on the west coast, the NCL Bliss, is expected to arrive on May 30. The NCL Bliss, referred to kindly as a "megaship," will be traveling the Seattle-to-Alaska route for the summer season.
