A community coffee shop in West Seattle won’t be going anywhere.
Two months after the C&P Coffee Company was threatened by a land sale, the coffee shop raised enough funds to purchase the land and preserve the business, as reported in the West Seattle Blog on Friday.
“It wasn’t until the place was in Jeopardy that Cam and I truly learned what community means,” co-owner Peter Moores wrote in a community letter obtained by the West Seattle Blog. “Your kindness and commitment has shown us clearly that the coffee house is more than four walls.”
Cameron and Peter Moores have owned the shop for 15 years, and are tenants on a property that was put up for sale in January.
The lot in the 5600 block of California Avenue Southwest was listed for $1.25 million.
C&P Coffee started a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe that raised $77,240, in addition to other funds raised.
