SEATTLE For the 18th consecutive year Seattle will celebrate the arrival of 2012 with one of the world s largest structure-launched fireworks displays as Wimmer Solutions Presents New Year s at the Needle.

KING 5 will bring the fireworks display to all of Western Washington. KING 5 News' Allen Schauffler and Evening Magazine host Meeghan Black along with Evening reporter Jim Dever will ring in the New Year with a live broadcast in HD starting at 11:35 PM on Saturday, December 31.

Wimmer Solutions is sponsoring the holiday celebration to bring attention to theirCare Creates Community Challenge community engagement and outreach program which asks organizations, families and individuals who are making a real difference in the community to share their stories.Wimmer Solutions Presents New Year's at the Needle will include a live announcement abouthow winners of the challenge will be honored.

This year s fireworks show comes as the Space Needle prepares to make space travel a reality for a private citizen as part of its 50th anniversary celebration Space Race 2012. Calling upon its roots as symbol of the original space race, the Space Needle s eight minute musically-choreographed fireworks display will feature classic tunes from E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and other movie favorites.
