A major street in West Seattle is flooded and 11 buildings are without water after a 4-inch service pipe to an apartment building broke Monday evening.

35th Ave SW between SW Avalon Way and SW Manning Street has been shut down as a utility service crew tries to fix the problem. The road is reportedly buckling from the flooding.

The broken pipe is on private property and is part of a new water service that was installed in 2016.

Seattle Public Utilities expect to complete the service around midnight.
