The USS John C. Stennis departed Bremerton on Saturday for more training at sea as it prepares for deployment.

The Stennis is scheduled to deploy sometime later this year, but ship spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Frederick Martin said the Navy has not yet publicly announced when the carrier will depart, where it will go or how long it will be underway.

Stennis will participate in carrier strike group integration training exercises while underway to get ready to operate with the planes and vessels that will make up the Stennis Carrier Strike Group while deployed.

Carrier Strike Group 3 is composed of the Stennis, Destroyer Squadron 21, Carrier Air Wing 9 and the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay.

While at sea, the carrier will practice flight operations, damage control and firefighting training, seamanship training, medical training and warfare proficiency exercises.
