Here's a list of 5 ways you can make an impact through volunteering this weekend:

1. Join the YMCA for Healthy Kids Day

YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They’re looking for volunteers during their morning shift and into the afternoon. The event will consist of sports and healthy eating demos in addition to other engaging activities. You can even join the YMCA without joining fees if you attend the event.

2. Help babies in need

Hosted by WestSide Baby

White Center, South Lake Union locations

Spend a few hours helping WestSide Baby ensure that children and babies in the community have the necessities they need. WestSide Baby distributes free diapers, clothing, cribs, and safety gear for babies and children. Low-income families rely on this service for their children to stay healthy and warm. You can help prepare donations for redistribution and make a real difference. Contact Nhoell Inthavong at nhoell@westsidebaby.com with any questions. This is an ongoing need.

3. Assist in Special Olympics Competition

Love Track & Field? Help Special Olympics Washington with its competition this weekend by signing up for a shift. You can help in a variety of ways from assisting with set-up to volunteering as a referee. If you’re interested, register using this online application to commit to a shift and role.

4. Celebrate Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day by helping the Arboretum Foundation and University of Washington Botanic Gardens plant, mulch, and remove invasive species throughout the arboretum. Snacks, coffee, and gloves are provided on-site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be an after-party from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. with music, giveaways, and a food truck onsite for volunteers to buy lunch.

5. Get Volunteer Ready for Summer

Restore Volunteer Park for Spring! Help Volunteer Park Trust with its annual major park clean-up event by weeding, removing invasive species, improving gravel paths, and mulching garden beds. Gloves, tools and donuts will be provided. Meet at Volunteer Park on the east side of the park to ensure Volunteer Park looks beautiful in the summer.
