One man has died and a woman is in critical condition after their paddleboat capsized near Three Tree Point in Burien early Sunday.

Coast Guard air and boat crews responded to the incident after dispatchers received reports just before 3 a.m. of two people aboard a paddleboat beset by weather conditions. Officials were able to make contact with the two via cell phone, but then heard a loud scream before losing the connection.

Once crews arrived at their location, they discovered the capsized boat near Seahurst Park.

The woman was unresponsive, but a local EMS crew was able to revive her. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

The man was recovered and transported by a helicopter crew to Boeing airfield, where he was pronounced dead by a medic crew.
