Police are looking for a person of interest spotted on surveillance video after an Edmonds woman was attacked while jogging Tuesday morning.

Jackie Goss LaCasse, 35, was jogging in the 8800 block of Bowdoin Way about 6:55 a.m. when she heard someone run up behind her.

She says she was on her last lap when the attack happened.

"He must have just been trying to knock me over. So he was just grabbing and shaking and I still kind of can feel the hands," LaCasse said.

Instinct took over and she fought back.

"He threw me down and I landed on my back and he came at me but that's when I was kicking and kind of throwing my arms out and screaming, LaCasse said.

The man ran away westbound on Bowdoin Way.

LaCasse was not injured.

"She does exactly the right thing," said Sgt. Shane Hawley, Edmonds Police Dept. "Yell. Scream. Make as much noise as you possibly can and starts kicking, fighting. And in that moment, whatever you need to do, there's no rules."

The man is described as white and between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet. He was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. A nearby surveillance camera caught video of a person who might be tied to the case.

Police say they don't have any records of a recent case like this. If anyone has information about the attack, they should call Edmonds Police at (425) 775-3000 or submit a tip online.

LaCasse says this will not keep her hidden inside her home.

"That is my routine, I do it every day and I don't feel like I should have to change it," she said, adding she might bring someone's dog or some mace.
