Federal Way holiday house benefits Mary’s Place

The homeowners wanted to do more than just put up a light display.

A holiday house in Federal Way helped those in need Friday, collecting donations for Mary's Place.

“We wanted the display to have purpose more than bringing Christmas cheer, and Mary's Place was an obvious place for us,” said Danny Quintero, who created the display.

They collected hats, gloves, and blankets, along with cash donations for the emergency shelter, which serves homeless women, children, and families.

Kids enjoyed a cup of hot cocoa while taking in the spectacle, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the Grinch made their way through the crowd posing for photos.

Quintero's masterpiece includes thousands of lights and uses family heirloom décor, including reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh, which was made by his grandfather.

“We're just turning it into Griswold,” Quintero joked.

The Quintero home is located at 2237 South 361st Street in Federal Way.
