Festivals and shows are great, but here's another kind of weekend event list. Here are 5 ways to volunteer with your family or friends.

1. Restore North Creek Forest

Hosted by Friends of North Creek Forest

19978 112th Ave. NE, Bothell, WA

Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Help remove invasive weeds and spread mulch in North Creek Forest this Saturday! The Friends of North Creek Forest will provide tools, gloves, snacks and water bottles to all volunteers. For additional information, contact ashley@friendsnorthcreekforest.org.

2. Restoration at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park

Hosted by Mountains to Sound Greenway

4503 Beach Drive SW, Seattle, WA

Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Head to West Seattle this Saturday and help remove invasive plants that have taken over this local park. All volunteers are encouraged to dress warmly and bring lunch and plenty of water. Volunteers must also wear close-toed shoes and long, sturdy pants. For additional information, please contact info@mtsgreenway.org.

3. Habitat Restoration Work Party

Hosted by Oxbow Farm & Conservation Center

10819 Carnation-Duvall Road NE, Carnation, WA

Saturday, March 3, 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Help Oxbow Farm & Conservation Center remove invasive plants in order to make more room for new native plants they’ll be planting. Volunteers are asked to wear long, thick pants, close-toed shoes, and rain gear if necessary. Oxbow Farm will provide water for volunteers and will offer a tour of the property at the end of the event. For additional information, please call (425) 788-1134.

4. Environmental Restoration

Hosted by Washington Scuba Alliance USA

25205 8th Pl. S, Des Moines, WA

Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Join the Washington Scuba Alliance on Saturday as they work to remove invasive ivy and plant native plants at Saltwater State Park. Volunteers must bring their own gloves and sturdy shoes, and are also encouraged to dress in layers and bring water to drink.

5. Dignity for Divas (ongoing)

Hosted by Dignity for Divas

Dignity for Divas helps restore dignity for women experiencing homelessness by reconnecting them with their "Inner Diva" as well as to support and encourage those who are in transition from being homeless and toward a self-sustaining life. Founder Nikki Gane has experienced homelessness and has helped distribute more than 25,000 Diva Survival Kits. Many people may know Dignity for Divas for its popular sock drive.

Diva Duty: Monthly street outreach, must be 16 years old and with a parent

Diva Bag Assembly: Monthly project, family friendly

Office Help: Weekly project, must be 16 years old with parental permission

Welcome Home Program: Weekly project to meet clients, must be 21 years old

Donation Inventory team: Weekly project, under 18 needs a parent, groups need at least 1 parent
