New for 2018: Standard sedans transformed to cutting edge rides

Two popular cars get a big makeover for 2018. Pros from Honda and Toyota of Seattle show off what's new with these standby rides.
Chris Kummer and Pape Moraga both sell cars at Honda and Toyota of Seattle in SoDo and they're both impressed with the 2018 models

Chris Kummer and Pape Moraga sell cars side by side at Honda and Toyota of Seattle, even though Kummer is a Honda guy and Moraga trades in Toyotas.

And they're both excited about two familiar models that got transformed for 2018.

Moraga says the new 2018 Toyota Camry XSE is an innovative ride.

"This car comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense, this is an amazing technology that can prevent traffic collisions. The car can stop itself, the Camry can also keep you in your lane, and if you activate the dynamic cruise control, it will pretty much drive itself on the highway.”

Moraga says he also loves to show off the Camry's panoramic moon roof and 360 degree exterior cameras.

The Honda guy, Kummer, was blown away by the Honda Accord’s redesign for 2018.

"First, I just have to say, look at it. Whoever thought the humble Honda Accord would ever be designed with such sophistication," Kummer said.

He pointed out that the Accord plugs right into your smartphone, and your phone screen shows up on the car’s screen.

The car also uses tech to stay safe.

"If the vehicle in front of you stops, and you don't see it, the Accord will brake right before impact,” said Kummer. “A forward mounted camera actively scans for lane markers in a freeway. When it registers them, your car will begin self-steering to keep you within your lane. Pretty cool stuff."

And if you can’t decide which of these new takes on standby cars you like better, that’s no problem.

“What is really special about Honda and Toyota of Seattle is that you can walk 30 feet and literally compare cars side by side!” said Moraga.
