Live music in Seattle, week of 12/12 - KEXP's Music That Matters

Experience the annual Maldoggies Family Christmas featuring Seattle bands The Maldives and The Moondoggies at The Tractor this weekend.

Each week, The Morning Show's DJ John Richards from KEXP 90.3 FM makes recommendations to help us sort through the many incredible options for live music in Seattle's music scene.

This is KEXP's list of the Music that Matters for the week of 12/12.

LIVE MUSIC

  • FRI 12/15 Noah Gundersen - Chop Suey - This Seattle based singer-songwriter recently released his new solo LP "White Noise." He's been steadily adding more rock to his folky sound.
  • FRI 12/15 & SAT 12/16 The Maldives & The Moondoggies - The Tractor - These two Seattle bands team up every year for "The Maldoggies Family Christmas." The Maldives finally released their new album "Mad Lives" earlier this year. The Moondoggies are on Seattle's Hardly Art Records, an imprint of Subpop.
  • SAT 12/16 Dude York - The Crocodile - This American band released a fun new album just in time for this time of the year called "Halftime for the Holidays."
  • SAT 12/16 The Barr Brothers - Neumos - KEXP recently headed up to this Canadian band's native stomping grounds of Montreal for the POP Montreal Festival. Their newest album is called "Queen of the Breakers."
  • WED 12/20, THURS 12/21 & FRI 12/22 Pedro The Lion - The Tractor - Band member Dave Bazan broke up from this band and went solo in 2006, but they have recently reunited.
