This week of music kicks off with some great roots tunes from Charlie Parr, tomorrow, October 26, at The Tractor.

And now for something completely different. Also on Wednesday, October 26, longstanding punk rock heroes Bad Religion play Showbox SoDo. Bad Religion formed in LA way back in 1979. Against Me! Opens the show.

On Friday, October 28, a band that is credited with inspiring the punk rock movement. It's local garage rock gods The Sonics at The Neptune. The Sonics formed back in 1960, and are back at it and kicking ass again. You've never seen a group of 60- and 70-somethings rock so hard.

North Carolina folk-rockers Hiss Golden Messenger are coming to town this weekend. They play a free show at noon on Friday, October 28, right here at KEXP. If you can't make the free show, don't worry; Hiss Golden Messenger will also play The Tractor on Sunday, October 30. The new album is called Heart Like A Levee.

I hope by now you've got your Halloween costume planned. You'll probably be celebrating through the weekend. But what about Halloween night itself? I suggest you check out hometown greats Pickwick, Monday, October 31, at The Tractor. Pickwick shared some new music with us this summer at a Mural show for KEXP. They'll be joined by Noah Gundersen's new band, Young in the City. Should make for a great Halloween night!
