Chef Makini Howell has changed our minds about vegan food. At her 100 percent vegan restaurant, Plum Bistro, she creates delicious, filling, and comforting dishes. And they're all made with organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
We tried several of Plum Bistro's signature dishes, including their famous Mac N’ Yease, made with yeast as a submitted. It's so rich and creamy, you won't believe that there isn't cheese in it.
We also had the My American Guy, Howell's take on a classic burger. It's a plant-based patty topped with cashew cheddar cheese, grilled onions and special sauce.
Other big hits were the Fresh Thyme Quinoa Pie and Veggie Monster pizza. One of the most interesting things we tried was the Beauty in the East (see what they did there?). At first glance, it looks like a plate of meatballs, but it's actually jackfruit plant balls!
