Pasado's Safe Haven

Pasado's Safe Haven is providing emergency services in the New Orleans area.

SEATTLE - As Hurricane Gustav takes aim at the Gulf Coast, a team from Pasado's Safe Haven animal sanctuary arrived in New Orleans on Saturday afternoon and hit the ground running. According to the Pasado's Web site, volunteers found a stray puppy wandering the streets of St. Bernard Parish and quickly scooped him up.

"He would have been stranded when the monster storm arrived. Life #1 saved," the Web site says.

The group evacuated dozens of animals from St. Bernard Animal Shelter.

Pasado's says a 600-acre horse farm with new 27 stall barn will be the site of their animal triage effort, located in Folsom, one hour North of New Orleans.

The group is seeking volunteers to help with rescue after the hurricane has passed.

Pasado's volunteers rescued 1,200 animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
