"Buster" was found on a Portland bus.

PORTLAND - A friendly brown-eyed dog took a ride on a Portland bus Tuesday. Unfortunately, how he got on the bus and who he belongs to is a mystery.

The Oregon Humane Society now has the dog, nicknamed "Buster," and is looking for his owner.

They say when a Tri-Met bus came to the end of the line in NE Sandy Blvd. and the last passenger stepped off, the driver reminded the departing passenger not to forget about her dog. But the dog didn’t belong to the woman, and with no dog tags or microchip ID, Buster's owner remains unknown.

Buster arrived at the Oregon Humane Society, escorted by a Portland Police officer who responded to the call from the bus driver.

Humane Society staff speculate that the mixed-breed dog may have escaped from his home and attached himself to a group of people waiting at a bus stop. When they boarded the bus, he followed along.

Buster is a short-haired young mixed-breed pit bull mix, predominately light-brown with white markings on his chest and nose. He is friendly to strangers and  likes chew toys.

He is now in the custody of Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS). Contact MCAS at (503)988-7387 if you have information about bus-riding Buster.
