Hearing Monday on proposal to raise smoking age
On Monday, lawmakers in Olympia will hold a hearing about raising the smoking age in Washington.
State Attorney General Bob Ferguson and a bipartisan group of state legislators want to make the tobacco purchase age 21 in Washington.
The proposal would also include raising the age for vaping supplies and tobacco products.
According to a poll released by Elway Research, 65% of Washington residents would support raising the age to 21.
A state Senate committee will consider the bill Monday starting at 1:30.
