SEATTLE, WA – KING 5 Television is proud to announce that it has been
honored with three prestigious Edward R. Murrow awards given by the
Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA). THE RTNDA has been
honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the
Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate
the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the
broadcast news profession.
KING 5 won the following awards in the Large Market category for Region
1, which includes Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Oregon and Washington:
1. Overall Excellence
This is KING 5’s second consecutive award for Overall Excellence.
2. Web Site (Broadcast Affiliated)
King5.com was recognized for its dual role in disseminating information
from KING 5 News broadcasts while simultaneously generating
original content. KING 5’s web site was selected for its superior
design, content, and interactivity.
3. Sports Reporting
Michael King, Dino Delarosa and Kevin Glantz won the regional Murrow for
Ballboy, the story of an 80-year-old fan who chases home run balls in the
parking lot at Tacoma Rainier games.
These regional winners will move on to the national competition.
National Edward R. Murrow awards will be announced in June.
