Don Porter

Don Porter is a seasoned and well-respected journalist in the Northwest and no stranger to KING 5.
Don’s first stint at KING 5 was from 1986 to 1991, when he anchored the 11:00pm news. Previously, he was a correspondent for NBC News from 1981 to 1985 where he was first based in Washington D.C. and then in London. Don was a reporter for KING 5’s sister station, KGW TV in Portland, OR, before he was sent to Washington D.C. as the Bureau Chief for King Broadcasting from 1979 to 1981.
During an interim period from 1996 to 1997, Don free-lance anchored for KIRO TV and NorthWest Cable News, and did business news reports for KIRO Newsradio. After being a co-anchor for the 10:00 p.m. news on KSTW TV from 1991 to 1998, he returned to KING 5 in early 1999 as a reporter. Shortly thereafter, he began co-anchoring the top-rated weekend evening editions of KING 5 News at 5:00pm, 6:30pm, 10pm and 11pm until August 2005.

Don was born in Boston, MA and graduated from the University of Oregon. He began his television career in Eugene, OR as a news photographer before becoming a reporter. Don is married and has two daughters.
