Michael King

Michael King was lured away from the King-5 Sports Department by Evening Magazine in July 2005 with promises of adventure and occasional free food.

In 1995 Michael helped launch NorthWest Cable News after spending two years at the CNN affiliate in Hong Kong, where he covered everything from Sumo wrestling to cricket to Aussie Rules Footie (don't ask).

Prior to his work for CNN, Michael worked as a sports anchor at KAPP-TV in Yakima, Wash at which he spent much of his time wooing his future wife, King-5 morning anchor Meg Coyle. Yes they DID ride the courting buggy to work together.

Michael's broadcast experience also includes covering the Chicago Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks for WGN Radio (i.e. get glared at by Ditka). He also served as an announcer for the Baltimore Orioles' single-A club for two seasons.

Michael has been awarded national reporting awards (from The Society of Professional Journalists and the Asian American Journalists Association), four Emmys for "Best Sports Anchor," two Associated Press awards for "Best Sportscast," an Edward R. Murrow award for "Sports Reporting" and a New York TV and Film Festival award for "Best Sportscast." His most cherished award, though, is "Best Free Throw Shooter" as a 5th grader at the Austin Carr Basketball Camp.

Michael and Meg share their palace with two princess daughters, a loyal mutt from Taiwan named June and two cats from Siam (GoGo and Monkey, who was found in the Woodland Park Zoo monkey exhibit!).
