KING 5 News expands high definition programming

KING 5 has expanded its high definition (HD) technology to provide viewers with the most local news coverage in HD available in Western Washington.
HDTV viewers will see the local KING 5 newscast in full wide-screen format, including news graphics. The studio, newsroom and weather center cameras as well as the Seattle Towercam (located on Queen Anne) can be seen in full HD. With this expansion, KING 5 offers viewers the largest volume of HD news content in the market and advertisers will see the benefit of running ads in HD, providing a larger, clearer more visually appealing ad for viewers.

This is the latest in KING 5 bringing broadcast firsts to its viewers. It was the first full power HD station in the market and was the first with local programming in HD with Evening Magazine. To highlight the new expansion, KING 5 has changed its on air logo from K5 to K5HD.

KING 5 News joins NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, which launched in high definition on March 26 th, in providing HD to viewers. That creates the largest block of evening news and information programming in high definition in Western Washington, starting with KING 5 News at 5 through Evening Magazine at 7:00 PM.
Viewers watching on a standard definition television signal will continue to receive all KING 5 newscasts and KING 5 local programming.
To watch KING 5 HD, viewers need an HDTV and an HD signal from a cable or satellite provider or HD antenna. KING 5 HD’s signal is on Comcast Channel 105, Millennium Digital Media Channel 705, Click! Network Channel 505 and DirectTV Channel 5.
